Privacy policy

Citizenwise ("we") makes study apps for citizenship tests. This policy covers the Citizenwise apps and this website. Short version: we don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and your study progress stays on your phone.

What stays on your device

• Study progress (answers, scores, bookmarks, review schedule, chosen state or federal state, and your test date if you enter one) is stored only on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
• Voice (US app, interview practice): if you allow the microphone, speech is recognised on your device by your phone's built-in speech recognition. We do not record, store or receive your audio.
• Study reminders: if you turn them on, they are scheduled on your phone as local notifications. No push service is used and nothing is sent to us.

What we receive

• Purchases: payments are handled by Apple or Google. To check that you own a Country Pass and to restore it, we use RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase receipt. We never see your card details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
• Support emails: if you email us, we use your email only to reply.

What we don't do

• No accounts are required, and no sign-up.
• No advertising, no ad tracking, no selling or sharing of personal data.
• No analytics SDKs at launch. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.

AI explanations

If an "Explain with AI" feature is turned on in a future version, the question text and your chosen answer (never personal data) will be sent to an AI provider to generate the explanation, and this policy will name that provider before the feature is enabled. AI answers are always labelled as AI.

Children

The apps are made for adults preparing for a citizenship test and do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

Because we hold almost no personal data, most requests are answered by deleting the app. For any privacy question or request (including under GDPR), email support@citizenwise.app.
